Blocking Out Road Noise

If you live by a busy road or highway, you might be annoyed by all of the noise that you hear every time a vehicle passes your house. Trucks barreling down the road, cars with bass lines turned all the way up, and revving motorcycles can take away the peaceful feeling you’re looking for in a home. Short of moving altogether, you might think your options are limited for finding some quiet in your own yard but we’ve got a couple of ideas.

Hedges

Some nice shrubberies at your property line could be the ticket to blocking out some of that noise. Install a few hedges over by the road and you’ll be amazed at the difference in volume. You can simply plant large bushes, or plant small sprouts and wait for them to grow. Once they’re large enough to serve their purpose, you can leave them as they are or trip them to form a neat row or pattern.

And not only will you hear less noise, but it’s likely that your yard will feel more private allowing you to enjoy it more.

Trees

If you have a more spacious front yard, you can add a few trees throughout the yard. You can plant them in a row along the property line or stagger them throughout your yard. A few flowering or fruiting trees should do the trick and will look beautiful in your yard.

A few pines or oaks can also help to block your home from the road, giving you a little more privacy and peace of mind.

Fence

Our favorite option entails a privacy fence surrounding your property. Put up a beautiful ornamental fence or install a classic wooden fence to block out your view (and all the sounds) of the road. You’ll be able to enjoy a front yard as peaceful as your backyard and spend more time outdoors rather than shying away from the loud traffic noises.

We offer a wide variety of fencing option and can find you the perfect fence for your needs. Whether you choose a vinyl fence, a wooden fence, or an ornamental fence for your home, we can help.
