The Most Expensive Fences Ever Built

Here at Central Fence, we love fences. No surprise there! Not only do we love installing fences around our corner of Georgia, but we love talking about them and even researching the history of fences. While we always offer affordable fences, that is not true for everyone. Here are a few fun facts that may just help you win your next trivia night or give you something to talk about next time the conversation runs out:

The US-Mexico Border Fence. An astounding $2.4 billion has already been spent to build 633 miles of fence along the southwest border of our country, and another $6.5 billion will be put into it over the next 20 years. Not to mention the $4.3 million budgeted in repairs.

The Great Wall of China. It’s safe to say if China had chain link fences back 2,500 years ago, it would have been much more cost effective. Trying to convert it to today’s money, the costs vary greatly but it’s generally agreed on that the cost is somewhere between 1 – 5 million dollars per mile. The wall is a total of 13,170 miles, making the final cost somewhere between $13 billion to $65 billion.

The Fence at the White House. The fence surrounding the White House is probably the most visited fence in Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas and it’s about to get even taller. Coming up in 2018, the new fence will be 13 ft 1 in including the stone base. The fence itself will be 10 ft 7 in and anti-climbing measures will be put at the top. There’s no cost for this fence released yet, but it is safe to say that this fence will top of the line.

These are probably a little bit out of your budget but luckily, Central Fence can give you a FREE affordable quote on your home or business fence — as long as it doesn’t span a country.
