Fencing Options for Your Pool

If you have a swimming pool on your property or planning to construct one, there are copious things to consider regarding safety and aesthetics. The most prevalent way to ensure safety is to install a fence around your swimming pool. You obviously don’t want your young children or pets to fall into the pool. The right pool fence also keeps the privacy aspect in check and adds more style bonuses in combination with your existing backyard decor. Below are some great fencing options for swimming pools.

1. Glass Pool Fence

A glass pool fence offers simplicity and durability while providing an unobstructed view around your pool. It doesn’t interfere with your landscape, and if they it’s high enough, pets and young children will not claim these fences.

Glass fences also provide a more contemporary look to your swimming pool. They are available in decent thicknesses, and you don’t have to worry about the glass breaking. Glass is also easy to maintain – they require nothing more than weekly wiping.

2. Ornamental Pool Fencing

Ornamental pool fences offer unmatched durability and exhibit impressive anti-rusting properties. They are also relatively affordable to install. Ornamental fences are almost unbreakable, making them ideal for keeping kids and pets out of the pool area.

3. Wrought Iron Pool Fences

While wrought iron fences were quite popular in the past, they are still cherished for antique designs, elegance, and durability. When installing wrought iron fencing around a pool, make sure it is designed to deter children from climbing up the bars. Although glass and mesh fences have increasingly replaced wrought iron fences in the recent past, many homeowners still adore them for their classic appeal and aesthetics. Unfortunately, they are a little more expensive compared to glass and ornamental fences.

4. Wood Pool Fences

Wooden pool fences are more traditional and classic. If you need privacy around your pool, you should definitely go for wooden fences. They are available in a variety of colors, designs, shapes, and sizes. Wood fencing is also durable and can last long if you maintain it correctly. You will only need to paint and treat it once or twice yearly.

5. Chain-link Pool Fences

A chain-link pool fence is typically woven with steel, making it quite strong and rust-free.  A chain-link fence also offers a clear view of the area around the pool. And since the chain-links are quite small, they don’t allow pets or children to squeeze through or climb up.

Wrapping Up

Pool fences are available in various styles and materials, including vinyl, which comes in almost endless designs and colors. Choosing the right pool fence is worth your time and effort as it helps secure your pool while blending with the rest of your backyard décor.
