Spring is in full bloom and it’s time to get that green thumb in gear. There are a number of plants that are perfect for the spring weather (and easy on the gardening experience) and will add a beautiful touch to your yard.
Pansies
Pansies love cool weather. They are very popular spring flowers that bloom in vibrant purple, blue, red, yellow, and orange colors. The best growing conditions for these flowers are part sun, part shade, and moist well-drained soil.
They grow to be about 10 inches tall and 12 inches wide.
Lilacs
Lilacs are lovely spring flowers with a beautiful fragrance. These flowers come in pastel purples, blues, pinks, and white. They need full sun and well-drained soil to grow.
They grow to be about 30 feet tall and wide.
Hydrangeas
These flowers bloom in huge bouquets and begin to grow in early spring. And nothing says ‘southern’ like a bouquet of hydrangeas on your kitchen table! They come in beautiful blues, pinks, yellows and white, with their color completely dependent on the nitrogen levels in the soil. They need part sun, part shade, and moist well-drained soil to grow.
They grow to be about 3-20 inches tall and 3-18 feet wide.
Begonias
These beautiful self-cleaning and hardy spring plants grow in a variety of conditions and are easy to care for. All they need is light shade, well-drained soil and a little bit of water to grow. They come in pink and white colors.
They grow to be about 1-3 feet tall and 6-12 inches wide.
Azaleas
These shrub-like plants are stunning when in bloom. They are slow growing but, well worth the wait. They need part sun, part shade and well-drained acidic soil to grow. They come in pink, purple, orange, yellow, peach and white. Best of all, you can cut them right down to the ground every year and they’ll come right back.
They grow to be about 3-4 feet tall and 2-3 inches wide.
As you can see, there are a number of beautiful flowers to plant during the spring season. The best part is that they are versatile enough to be paired with any fencing style. Pairing these blooming beauties up with one of our fences is sure to turn heads this spring.
