Our Favorite Wooden Fence Styles

wood fence types

Wooden fences are one of the most popular styles of fencing. They are sturdy, provide protection, privacy and make beautiful add-ons to residential spaces. Within the group of wooden fences, there are a number of designs to choose from. Depending on your style preference and your needs, you have a number of choices.

Here are a few of our favorites.

Imperial Wooden Fences

An Imperial design is the perfect privacy fence. It’s tall and the planks are so close together that no one can see through them. The smooth look and feel of the wood gives this design an elegant look, even when it’s merely a property divider.  As the wood ages, it will gain a rich patina that makes it even prettier.

Stockade Wood Fences

This fence has jagged tips which are great for security purposes. If an intruder were to try and climb the fence, the tips would more than likely stop them dead in their tracks.  Plus, those tips create an interesting border aesthetic along your fence as well. This fence is similar to a picket fence except the planks are close together, for security, with no openings in between.

Split Rail Fences

The split rail design shouts cowboy!  This design is perfect for farms, and has been for hundreds of years. Split Rail fences keep livestock and horses from escaping, while allowing the natural beauty of the farmland to shine through. These fences are easy to install, and hold up well to large animals.

Picket Fences

Ahh, the proverbial picket fence…

Picket fences are the most popular of designs, chosen by so many families who want that American Dream look. Most people think of happy memories when they see a Picket Fence, and for good reason.  These are the fences of our childhood.

They not only provide security and privacy, but are visually appealing as well — they are adorable!

Lattice Top Wooden Fences

Lattice fences are beautiful, no doubt about it. They provide privacy and security like the others but, they do it with a dash of sophisticated style. Blending in well with your landscaping, you can even weave your plants through the lattice for a beautiful effect.

As you see, there are many ways you could go when it comes to choosing a design for your fence — the sky is the limit! Still unsure of which one to choose? Contact our friendly staff today and let us help you pick a wooden fence you’ll love.
