The Best Additions to a Backyard

While the front of a yard is the face of the house, the backyard is the spine. Many-a cookout and playdate have been managed in the safety of a backyard. Children play, adults gossip and cook, and flowers are grown in this quintessential piece of real estate. Lives are lived under the gentle shade of towering trees. But to create this vision of home-property perfection, you need to fill your backyard with more than just the standard fare. If all your backyard amounts to is a place where more grass grows, your backyard isn’t living up to its full potential. Help it be the best it can be with these three quintessential additions to a backyard:

A Playground Set

This is probably the first thing people think of when they think of children playing outside. A playground set is home to intergalactic space battles, daring ocean voyages– and everything else your inventive kids might come up with across the plastic bulwark that holds a slide, wheel, and rope ladder. A playground set is a way to foster exercise and imagination, in addition to being a hub for any of your childrens’ friends to play on. The best part? It doesn’t even require much adult supervision with the aid of a fence safely enclosing your children.

A Flower Bed

Who doesn’t enjoy a good garden? Gardens are phenomenal outlets for creativity and practicality. Even if cultivating rows of beautiful roses, hydrangeas, violets, lilies, and more, a garden can hold useful plants, whose blossoms yield more than just a pretty sight. Most spices come from plants, as well as vegetables and fruits. A vegetable garden can yield fresh tomatoes– cheaper and tastier than anything store-bought, and something you can say holds the tender care of having been grown in a garden. Everybody knows the best foods are the ones made with love.

A Grill

Cookouts are a core part of what it means to be an American. Everybody can relate to a 4th of July barbeque or just a neighborhood get-together. A grill can bring a community of adults together much as in the same way a playground set does for children. What else is more relaxing than sitting around, talking amongst your neighbors and the delicious smells of cooking hamburgers and hot dogs? A grill is more than just a way to cook food. It’s a way to bring people closer. A grill is the difference between a row of houses and a proper neighborhood.
