4 Simple Safety Tips for Georgia Homeowners

Chain Link Fence

Your home’s security is about much more than just keeping your physical possessions or the building from damage. A stolen television can be replaced, but the trauma of such an event could be lifelong. Your house is where you and your family lives, relaxes, celebrates holidays, sleeps, and most of all- should feel safe. If you are worried about the safety of your family at home, there are several things you can do to rest easier at night:

Dog

A dog is one of the best security measures you can have around your home. A properly-trained dog will bark when a stranger approaches your property, and physically protect you if necessary. If you don’t have a lot of space or don’t like big dogs, don’t worry- just about any breed’s bark with scare off a potential intruder. They don’t know how big (or small!) your canine friend is, and they won’t want to run the risk of getting bit. Just having the pet around will make you feel more safe, not to mention, you’ll always have a friend!

Security Lights

Full alarm systems can be expensive and require a monthly payment, so they aren’t ideal for everyone. However, a few simple motion detector lights will cost significantly less and deliver the same results. A potential thief is relying on the darkness to cover their crime, and shining a big light on them as soon as they cross your property line is sure to send them running off.

New Locks and Deadbolts

Homeowners often jump right to worrying about someone smashing a window to break in and forget that some potential criminals may actually have a key. Take a few minutes to really think about who may have a key to your home. Beyond just close friends and family, have you given a copy to a housekeeper or pet sitter? If your home wasn’t new construction and you didn’t change the locks when you moved in, you have no way of knowing who has a copy from before you even moved in!

Fence

In many cases, the best way to protect your home is to stop someone from getting to it in the first place. A fence will section off your property and stop someone from wandering where they shouldn’t go. Jumping over a fence, especially a chain link fence, will be loud and risky, and it won’t be worth it to most potential thieves.

A chain link fence is built for a lifetime of privacy and protection, so it’s perfect for residential homes that need to feel a bit more secure. Don’t give intruders a chance to come onto your property! Contact us today and let’s work together to keep your family and house safe.
