Deciding on a Type of Fence

Choosing the suitable fencing material for your home or business can be daunting. You need to wade through various factors before you pick the perfect material for your fence. Such factors include your area’s climate, cost, need for added security, maintenance requirements, and need for added privacy.

The following article will discuss four types of fencing material; wood, vinyl, chain link, and ornamental. The write-up will also elaborate on how the above factors impact these materials.

Wood

Wood is a popular fencing material due to its affordability. Wood is generally inexpensive compared to other fencing options like chain link. Your cost will vary depending on the type of fence you want. You may need a simple fence for your yard to protect your pets and children, or you may go for a more complex design to boost your home’s security.

While wood isn’t as durable as iron fencing, it’s still sturdy enough to serve you for many years. Also, installing wood is much easier and cheaper. Wood requires regular maintenance. For instance, if your fence is painted, you must repaint it every few months, so it doesn’t look worn.

Vinyl

One of the main advantages of vinyl fencing is low maintenance. Unlike other materials such as wood and wrought iron that require regular maintenance, vinyl is easier to maintain. The material also comes in a wide range of permanent colors that may not require repainting.

Vinyl is relatively durable compared to other materials like wood. The material isn’t affected by moisture, making it an ideal fencing option for rainy or humid areas. Also, vinyl is flexible. It can easily bend without breaking. This quality makes it a good pick for windy areas.

Chain Link

Chain link fences are much cheaper compared to other fencing methods like ornamental. Their installation is also relatively cheaper and easier. Additionally, chain links are made of steel, so they can’t be damaged by pests or rotting.

A high-quality chain link fence is hard to vandalize and breach. For this reason, chain links are the preferred fencing option for military bases and prisons. Moreover, chain links come in various styles and thicknesses that can be used to boost security on your property.

Ornamental

Ornamental fences come in various materials, such as wrought iron, wood, vinyl, and aluminum. This variety makes ornamental fences great for decoration purposes as they offer design versatility. For example, you can decide to choose a more traditional look or a modern style.

Ornamental fencing made from aluminum or steel is quite durable. These materials can withstand harsh weather conditions like high humidity. Also, ornamental fences require less maintenance which can help you save money.

A high-quality fence for your home or business can be a great investment that will guarantee you maximum security and other benefits like privacy. With various fencing materials on the market, you will have to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each one. We at Central Fence can help you make the right choice as they have years of experience in residential and commercial fencing.
