Get it right with the height, style, material, color, placement, and installation of your fence, and you can greatly boost your property’s curb appeal. A well-crafted fence will add charm and character and change the whole look of your property. It’s indeed one of the reasons why a fence is a good investment.

Benefits of Painting Your Fence

A coat of fresh paint is exactly what you need to breathe new life into your gate. It’s good maintenance that will boost curb appeal by giving your fence the perfect face-lift. Not only does the paint add color and texture to your fence, but it’s also perfect for hiding small cracks, blemishes, and other imperfections.

A freshly painted fence is also easier to clean, making overall maintenance much easier. You will spend less time and energy cleaning away dirt and grime off the smooth and even fence surfaces.

Applying a fresh coat of paint on your fence adds an extra layer of protection against the elements. High-quality paints stand up very well against the worst of Mother Nature, increasing the fence’s lifespan considerably.

Paint protects wooden fencing from rot by preventing moisture from seeping in. Even in fences made from other materials, the paint promotes structural integrity by acting as a barrier against termites and other pests.

Choosing Paint Color for Your Fence

There are many color options from which to choose to match your style and preference, as well as your home’s architectural style.

White is a classic and goes well with all home styles. It gives that clean and bright look. Gray is a top choice for contemporary homes, delivering a subtly sophisticated look. Consider dark yellow for your fence if you want something to add warmth and that inviting look.

If you have plenty of greenery and landscaping on your property, match it with a calming green color on your fence. Similarly, blue would be an excellent choice to match the color of the water if your property is by a large water body.

Preparing for Painting or Straining

Properly preparing your fence before painting or staining is crucial to achieving the best results. For a new, unpainted fence, wash it to remove any wooden fibers, dirt, and debris. Apply a good primer to the clean and dry fence before the coat of paint.

For a previously painted fence, start by scraping off the old failing paint. Sand the edges and prime all exposed areas to bridge imperfections and create a smooth surface. Ensure you repair or replace any damaged parts before painting, although sanding and priming will do just fine for minor scratches and nicks.

Transform Your Curb Today

Applying a new coat of paint on your fence is a simple, inexpensive, yet highly effective way to increase curb appeal. Choose the right color, and don’t forget to do all the prep work for the best results that will transform your property.
