Reasons to Fence in that New Pool

Pool Fence

If you are going to install a pool anytime in the near future, you will also want to consider installing a fence along with it. Having a pool is a great way to keep cool in the summer, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. One of the best ways to make sure that everyone remains safe and that your pool is secure is to put up a fence around it. While some say a short fence is adequate, it may be in your best interest to put up a privacy fence that is high enough that people and animals can’t climb over it. Installing a fence will not only reduce your liability but will help to protect your family’s privacy.

Safety

Having a fence around your entire yard or just your pool is extremely important for safety reasons. A secure fence will protect animals and small children from wandering into your yard and falling into the water. Having a privacy fence will limit the view of outsiders and protect your family from predators, both human and otherwise. A fence will also add a level of security to your property, making it more difficult for burglars to gain access to your home.

Insurance Purposes

Many insurance companies require that a fence be put up around a swimming pool to protect you from liabilities. Some companies may also have a height requirement for the fence. While this may be up to the insurance company, the decision to make it higher or not is up to your own discretion. If the height requirement is only four feet, you may opt to put a privacy fence in place that will extend the height of the fence to six feet or higher, in order to more securely ensure yourself from threats to your safety or threats to wandering toddlers.

Protects Your Pool

Putting a fence around your pool not only keeps people from entering your yard and falling in, but it also protects the pool itself. With a fence in place, leaves and other types of debris are prevented from blowing from your yard and into in your pool. Smaller pieces of debris can be sucked up into your filter while larger pieces can damage the lining. A fence keeps your pool clean and reduces the amount of time spent maintaining it.

No matter what type of pool you have, installing a new fence or maintaining an existing one should be one of your main priorities. A privacy fence will add value to your home as well as give it “curb appeal”. Many people choose decorative fencing to improve how their home looks to those who pass by. While the goal of having a fence may be to prevent people from gaining access to your pool, there are many other benefits you can take advantage of in the process.
