Tending Your Garden in The Fall And Winter

As the Fall and Winter arrives, you’ll need to tend to and prepare your garden by taking a few steps that will help your garden last well into Spring and Summer. There are some basic steps to take and starting with removing debris and cleaning up the garden is the best way to begin the task.

Fix any damages that were made during the Summer. Remove any dead plants, cut down dry stems from berry plants, and remove brown foliage from your evergreens. Here are some other ways to continue tending to your garden.

You might want to plant some vegetable plants including cabbages, broccoli, and brussel sprouts as they can deter any unwanted pests from your plants throughout the Fall and Winter seasons. Stalks of berry plants can be left behind to attract birds and add some color to your garden throughout the Wintery months.

It is important to cover up the soil with mulch or any organic material for the colder season. Lay a thin layer around the plants to help provide warmth throughout the cold months and assist in prolonging the life of your garden plants.

Following these steps will help protect the plants in your garden and allow them to flourish in the Spring and Summer months. Simply clean up and cover up your garden to keep it looking its best during the Fall and Winter and you’ll enjoy a beautiful garden next year.
