The Benefits of Wooden Fences

No fence is as historic or as iconic as the tried and true wooden fence. There’s a reason wood has been a choice material for crafting for humankind for thousands of years. You can be a part of that proud tradition by owning a wooden fence of your very own.

Nothing quite matches wood for that all-natural charm. Wood’s appeal is ageless. It’s strong and flexible, as reliable as it is attractive. Wooden fences are some of the most customizable of fences, able to be crafted and colored whichever way you want. Paints and primers are more or less made for wood, and allow for limitless options in beautifying your fence.

The white picket fence is as timeless as America itself. It captures the tranquil beauty of suburbia perfectly. For many, their image of a backyard barbecue isn’t complete without the painted wooden fence in the background.

But wooden fences are more than just picket posts. Wood can be fashioned into a great variety of styles, and can be painted every which way. Wood fences can be fashioned to have spaces in between to allow for a more open backyard experience or so close that a fly would have trouble getting through, let alone an adventurous pup.

Wooden fences are also quite sturdy. A wood fence can stand for 20 years or more with proper maintenance. You need to monitor it every now and then for signs of rotting, most recognizable by a state of discoloration. Pests are also sometimes an issue, such as termites and carpenter bees. These issues shouldn’t be a common problem for you though, and can be remedied reasonably easily.
