Your fence is so much more than just property insurance. Fences can be used for any number of activities, from cooperative decoration to games played with them. The great thing about backyard activities is that you don’t even need to spend much money on them to have fun. Even the unorthodox can be good, wholesome family fun. Here are a few backyard fall games you and your family can enjoy.
Leaf Pile Cannonball
Summer has gone and passed us by, but not everyone has had the chance to make some waves, or maybe they’re not very fond of water to begin with. With the passing of summer, with its sandy beach-goings and sunny days spent by the poolside comes the falling of autumn leaves. These leaves can be used for any number of purposes, the most notable of which being the construction of leafy hills just begging to be jumped on. Who says you need water to make a splash?
Free Form Decoration
Free form decoration is all about exploring your creativity, and is a great way to spend time with your kids, or any younger children of the family. A good way to start would be to limit yourself to being able to use only what you find outside with a limited amount of supplies, like glue and tape to help put it all together. Nature is said to be a kind of art in and of itself, so why not take it one step further? A fallen leaf can be the body of a turkey, twigs can be the legs, and an acorn shell can be the beak. There’s so much opportunity for brain-boosting fun out there for you to share.
Leaf-Blower Fights!
Picture snowball fighting, but with leaves and a lot less opportunity for cold and injury. Nobody’s ever been knocked out by a flying leaf before. This is a great game to play in conjunction with leaf-pile cannonballs, and is best played with two piles on either side of the players to begin with. The rules are simple: blow as many leaves as you can onto the other player’s side, while trying to keep yours relatively clean! (The initial piles don’t count.) Leaf-blower fighting is a safe, fun way to enjoy the unique opportunities fall has for you to explore. To be extra sure no injuries will occur, have the participating parties or anyone close by wear goggles. You can never be too safe, after all.
