City Vs Country Home Fencing Needs

Whether you live right in the city or out in the middle of the country, a fence is a great idea. However, depending on where you live, there are different things to consider and even different rules to follow. Know what type of fence is best for your home’s needs by deciding uses and wants and researching your area’s laws. Here are a few tips to get started.

Laws

If you live in city limits, it’s likely that there will be laws stating the types of fences you’re allowed to install as well as height requirements and even how close to the road or your property line a fence can be. Check with your city officials or a local lawyer to make sure you’re following all the rules when it comes to putting up a fence.

As for those living outside of the city limits, you may have rules, as well, but yours will be less strict. You might not have restrictions on height or fence type, giving you more freedom to get the perfect fence for your needs with an aesthetic you’ll love.

Needs

Even though there tend to be more restrictions for homeowners in the city, those are probably the ones who want or need a fence the most. A privacy fence is a great way to feel secluded from nosy neighbors while protecting kids (and pets) from wandering off.

A farm or other home in the country may also need a fence for some of the same reasons. Many countryside properties are too large to be able to survey from one spot. A fence keeps out trespassers and offers security that you might not be able to on such large plot of land. It also keeps children, pets, and farm animals on site if they tend to wander, although you may have a bigger backyard for them to play in.

Pets

We’ve already talked a little about how pets are affected with your home’s location but they deserve their own section. Many houses in the city are close together and have smaller backyards, as well as usually being close to roads. However, country backyards may be just the opposite. If your backyard is too big for your pup to go wandering around or maybe you want to restrict the areas that he can go into, consider a dog kennel.

Wherever you live, a fence is a perfect addition to your home. Consider how a fence will benefit you and pick the best one for your needs with the help of Central Fence.
