Do You Really Save Money Installing It Yourself?

Do you want to install a brand new fence on your own? Will you really save money if you do it yourself or should you simply leave it to the pros? Here are some things to consider before you make a final decision.

Consider Local Codes, Laws, and Regulations

First you will need to check with your local government on what the codes, laws, and regulations are for installing a fence in your area. Every city has its own so don’t assume you know them already. Failing to do this can result in a lot of time wasted, delay in fence installation and possible fines. Fence companies like us take care of this step for you.

Consider Cost Of Materials and Tools

Before installing your own fence you will need to figure out what type of fence you want to install. There are a number of fences out there that come in a variety of colors and styles. After you have determined what type of fence you want to install, you will need to decide on what materials to use. Keep in mind that not all the same installation tools are used for all fencing. For example. you wouldn’t use the same tools to install a wood fence that you would for an ornamental fence. Will you use the tools you buy to install the fence again? If not, consider the waste of money that unused tools can bring.

Consider Underground Utilities

Before you begin digging holes into the ground be sure to find out where the utility lines are. The best number to call for this is 811. 811 is a national organization. They will help you locate the safest place to install your own fence.

Consider Fencing Measurements

Before installing your fence you will also need to have a plan.  The best way to plan out your fence is to draw up a sort of blueprint for what you are wanting. One of the biggest mistakes one can make is to take incorrect measurements. To make sure your measurements are accurate, we encourage you to measure multiple times.

Consider Time

Do you have a full time job? Do you have kids? If so, installing your own fence might be a bit more time consuming than it would be for someone with no responsibilities.  Also, the job will go faster if you’ve done this before.  If you have experience installing fences, you can probably install the fence 3x faster than a novice.

As you can see there are quite a bit of things to consider when installing your own fence. The main things you should consider is time and money. Do you have the time and money to install your own fence? Hiring a professional company will take care of a lot of these things for you, leaving you stress free.
