Vinyl Fences are virtually maintenance free fences that are becoming increasingly popular these days. Vinyl fencing comes in a variety of styles and colors and are easy to install and their beauty is unmatched. Here is a helpful step-by-step process.
Materials Needed:
- post hole digger
- gravel
- quick-set cement
- rubber mallet
- tape measure
- level
- screwdriver
Step 1:
First, you will need to prepare the ground for fence installation.Remove anything from the ground that might prevent you from properly installing your vinyl fence. This includes debris, plants and trees.
Step 2:
Next, you will need to measure the length and width of the area you want your fence installed on. You can place stakes at the corners of the area to mark your chosen area. (Be sure to do this before you purchase your fence. You don’t want to end up with too much or not enough.)
Step 3:
After your yard is properly prepared, it’s time to purchase your vinyl fencing. Vinyl fencing lengths range from 2-8 feet long. Be sure to mark the positions between the posts you have already set up so your fencing sections will fit properly. Lay the fencing sections down before you dig holes to make sure you have marked your spots properly.
Step 4:
Use a post hole digger to dig the holes for your vinyl fence. You should dig holes that are about 10 inches long in diameter. The hole should be deep enough to hold 6 inches of gravel and have enough room to fit about ⅓ of your fencing post into that hole.
Step 5:
After the post holes have been dug, secure each post inside of a hole. Fill the hole 6 inches with gravel and pour quick-setting cement over it. Drive ⅓ of the pole into the hole using a rubber mallet. Repeat this step until all posts are secured inside the holes. (Be sure to scrape away any excess cement before it dries)
Step 6:
Next, attach the vinyl fencing sections to each other by snapping them together. Attach nails to the end of each section then secure the rails to the post into the ground.
