By Teresa Dixon In Choosing a Fence, Fences

The Many Fencing Options for Your Home

Whether you’re looking for pure aesthetic value or some functionality to go with it, a fence is a good investment. With so many different products on the market, though, it can be overwhelming to walk into the store without a plan. Where do you even start? We’ve got a handy guide for fencing options, including some things to consider with each type.

Wood

Wood fencing is the most popular type in the United States. It’s easy to see why: it’s extremely affordable, and can be customized to fit almost any decor scheme. Select a style that you like, and then you can paint it to match your overall theme. For the best durability, it’s important to select a high-quality lumber, and to do regular maintenance like applying a waterproof sealant. Wood fence may need to be repaired after some time, but making sure that you install a quality fence right off the bat will save you money and time in the long run.

Ornamental

These are popular decorative fences because they’re low maintenance. While they don’t provide the privacy that a solid panel fence would offer, aluminum ornamental fences can still keep unwanted visitors out of your yard. They’re a nice option for blocking out deer and other large wildlife. Aluminum panels can help to break up an otherwise monotonous section of fence, and they pair surprisingly well with a variety of home decor schemes. Overall, ornamental is a good choice for an elegant home that’s looking to make a bold statement.

Vinyl

It’s a little more expensive than wood, but vinyl is low-maintenance, easy to clean, and comes in a variety of styles and colors so you’re sure to find something that’s perfect for you. It also gives you privacy that you can’t get with ornamental. We love vinyl for the customizability that it gives you: you can switch out post caps and even entire panels until you find something that works for you. Vinyl is available in both large privacy panels and small decorative pieces. So, whether you’re looking to fence in your backyard swimming pool or accent a flowerbed with a low fence, it’s a great choice.

Choosing a fence can seem daunting but let the professionals at Central Fence help. Consider the options and pick the perfect fence for your home.
