It’s springtime. The sun’s out and the weather is perfect for outside activities. Along with all the advantages of beautiful spring weather comes the disadvantages of suffering from allergies. Fortunately for you, there’s a solution. There are plants that fight off allergies. Here’s a list of the top 5 to plant in your backyard for allergy season.

English Ivy

English Ivy is a flowering, clinging, evergreen vine. It can be found in hundreds of different varieties. It’s known as an allergy fighting plant because it removes chemicals in the air that can be found in crude oil, gasoline and cigarette smoke. It grows quickly though and can overpower other plants so be sure to clip the leaves off regularly.

Bamboo Palm

This flowering plant grows multiple stems from its base and resembles bamboo, hence its name. Its leaves create clusters at the end of its stems. The palms in this plant filter out toxic gases in the air. The plant thrives best in tropical weather.

Sword Fern

Sword Ferns are perennial plants that grow green leaflets. They are strong plants that can withstand the heat and they soak up toxins in the air.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a versatile plant with a number of uses. They are short stemmed succulent plants with thick water-filled leaves. Aloe Vera can be used for cleaning products, cuts, burns, and purifies the air, helping with allergens. They can survive both inside and outside.

Peace Lily

The Peace Lily is a tropical plant. They are perennials with large leaves and yellow, white, or green flowers. Peace Lilies break down toxic gases in the air like carbon monoxide.

If you suffer from allergies these plants are perfect for you.  They all make perfect backyard add ons and would be beautiful landscaping ideas for your vinyl fence. So stop sneezing and wheezing and let these allergy fighting plants bring you relief.
